Documentary photography- Evaluation

My first photo is based on the light house on top of the plymouth hoe,  have tried to capture the sunlights glow behind the lighthouse itself. When I was taking this photo I was concentrating on lining up the sun with the lighthouse but also focusing on the huge shadow behind it to create the sense of uncontrollable power. Once I had my photo I then used photoshop and iphoto to enhance the colours of the sky and the glow of the sunrise, then I increased the exposure of the area of the sun until it was completely white but still leaving the edges to fade to the rich colour. If I would improve something in this photo I would have to blend some of the thin clouds at the top of the sky because I think the colour would be clearer. what I partially like about this image is the suns reflection in the water behind the lighthouse because I find the texture of the water and the golden colour of the sun soothing.

My second photo features an everyday public bench on the right along with the bright sunrise at the top corner which I have also exposed the light just like my last image. I lined up the bench and the two people in the background so it looked as if they where walking to it. When I was editing the photo on photoshop I first tried putting the photo in black and white but i didn't think it looked right because the photo needed colour so I gave it a slight sepia effect to it. I think the photo looks good in sepia because it captures the bright sunrise. If I could do anything different to this photo I would use the lasso tool in photoshop to cut out the dome in the background because I feel it can be distracting to the main image.
